# Glossary

## HR concepts

**Person** — a natural person: full name, IIN, personal contacts. One person may hold
several employee records across the tenant's organizations.

**Employee** — a person's record in a specific tenant: job title, department, status,
dates. The central API resource.

**Tenant** — the customer organization in Doodocs People, with its own employees,
documents, and settings. An API key belongs to exactly one tenant.

**IIN** — the individual identification number of a natural person in Kazakhstan, 12
digits. It serves as the legal identifier when signing.

**BIN** — the business identification number of a legal entity, 12 digits. The
organizational counterpart of an IIN.

## Documents

**Document type** — a catalog entity: employment order, leave request, and so on. It
defines the template, the subject, and confidentiality.

**Template** — a print form with a set of variables (`variable_schema`) that a
document is generated from.

**Document subject** — the employee the document is about. Not the initiator: the
initiator creates the document, the subject appears in it.

**Route** — the sequence of approval and signing steps. A step holds participants and
a completion rule.

**Participant** — a slot in a route step bound to a specific employee. Actions are
performed on behalf of the slot, not the person.

## Signing

**EDS** (ЭЦП) — electronic digital signature. In Kazakhstan it is issued by the
National Certification Authority and stored as a key pair.

**EDC** (КЭД) — the electronic document card: a summary of the document and its
signatures, downloadable as a separate file (`FILE_TYPE_DDCARD`).

**KEDO** (КЭДО) — electronic HR document management: moving personnel documents to
electronic form with a legally significant signature.

**CMS** — Cryptographic Message Syntax, the format in which a signature is passed to
the API. Encoded in base64.

**NCALayer** — the National Certification Authority's desktop application, which
produces a signature on the user's machine.

**eGov Mobile** — Kazakhstan's government services mobile app, which can sign a
document from a phone.

## API terms

**Scope** — a label on a key that unlocks a group of endpoints: `employees:read`,
`documents:write`, and others.

**Field redaction (`redacted_fields`)** — the list of fields hidden from the key
owner by their permissions. An empty field value and a missing field are different
things.

**`page_token`** — an opaque pagination cursor, bound to the filter set it was issued
for.

**`expand`** — a parameter that inlines related entities into the response so you do
not fetch each one separately.
